Business Director Middle East, Africa and West Asia

About the Role

The Role is accountable for delivering agreed financial goals for a local market (country or cluster of countries) by leading and directing a multi-functional commercial organization, securing optimal customer experience and commercial organization productivity.

This position will be responsible for Middle East, Anglophone Africa, Turkey, and West Asia (India and Pakistan).

What You Will Do:

  • Managing budget and monitoring the financial health of the cluster business; Accountable for cluster sales revenue and P&L targets through optimization of resources and productivity of the local commercial team.
  • Translate the Business Unit (BU) strategy into a Cluster strategy and local market’s commercialization plan; with clear priorities across therapeutic areas, categories, and channels to maximize both short-term and long-term profitable growth.
  • Continuously creating, developing, and implementing business growth plans.
  • Developing key commercial performance goals and managing overall cluster performance.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop your team, including Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and Business Support, to drive success and foster growth.
  • Oversee and coordinate other local operational functions via the matrix, including demand planning, warehousing, service management, eCommerce, and finance.
  • Ensure the long-term success of the business by cultivating and leveraging relationships with key external stakeholders, including internal entity partners, major customers, industry organizations, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and relevant funding bodies.

Subordinates/Sub-functions:

  • Direct reports include Sales Director/Manager, Marketing Director/Manager, and Commercial Development Director/Manager.
  • Matrix coordination includes Local Warehousing & FTC, eCommerce, Finance Controller/Finance, HR, and Legal.

Who You Are

  • A responsive, committed, and results-focused leader who can build, lead, and motivate a team, driving long-term profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Experienced in cross-functional matrix leadership and managing indirect teams, ideally across multiple countries and locations.
  • Proven track record in balancing divergent interests across different organizations to achieve optimal results from a total company perspective.
  • Deep experience in the Health/Med-Tech industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A self-starter with a drive to challenge the status quo while maintaining a positive mindset.
  • Commercially savvy, with substantial P&L responsibility experience.
  • Quick thinker with a background in international matrix organizations, able to effectively network and coordinate to achieve results.
  • Proficient in Go-to-Market (GTM) processes and tools.
  • Expertise in omnichannel approaches and value creation with strong financial acumen.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that deliver business results through collaboration within a matrix organization.
  • Skilled communicator who delivers clear, impactful messages and influences outcomes effectively.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in any other relevant European language is an advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
