Business Development Manager - Energy & Infrastructure

The Role:

As a Business Development Manager, you will be an accomplished, consistent, effective member of the Teneo Management Consulting team, supporting the Energy & Infrastructure practice with the development of consulting IP, creation of proposals, writing of bids, CRM management, and liaising with internal teams. This role will enable the practice to serve leading companies in energy and infrastructure on complex issues surrounding policy, technology and innovation, growth, financial strategy, with a particular focus on sustainability and decarbonization. Typical clients include US and global utilities, IPPs, renewable/energy storage/EV infrastructure, investors, equipment manufacturers, private equity, and pension fund investors.

Responsibilities:

  1. Actively lead on the creation of client proposals, leveraging common templates where available and creating templates where necessary.
  2. Work with the E&I practice leadership to provide structural support for the research and material creation to support sector IP development.
  3. Draft whitepapers and proposal collateral derived from IP.
  4. Draft complex collateral slides directly from client briefings subject to review from team leadership.
  5. Guide and direct junior colleagues to assist in Business Development activities.
  6. Coordinate business development campaigns and events.
  7. Lead practice management meetings and support in practice business planning.
  8. Develop practice pipeline generation strategy including whitepaper development and practice events.
  9. Coordinate the creation of profiles, proposal content, and research activity across junior team members.
  10. Liaise with the Teneo legal department to support client engagement contracting.
  11. Liaise with recruitment to support hiring requests.
  12. Coordinate with sister organizations on IP creation/conferences.
  13. Map and track internal relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • 3+ years relevant work experience in a Strategy Consulting environment and/or energy/infrastructure topics; other relevant experience may include roles in BD, sales support, project management, strategy planning, and client management.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in energy transition and sustainability issues.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Logical and numerate, with experience using Excel to analyze numerical and text data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in management consulting or similar contexts.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude: Passionate, intellectually curious, commercially aware, results-oriented, and self-starting.
  • Evidence of teamwork, leadership, and ambition, alongside relevant work experience.
  • Ability to operate at a fast pace, influencing and challenging when needed while balancing competing priorities.
  • Creates a positive and credible impression on others.
  • Ensures all reports, data, and written work are correct in detail and without error.
  • Proactively takes on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
