ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager who is fluent in Chinese to attract and develop customers business to support the growth of DHL market share. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business development, excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English, and a deep understanding of the Chinese business landscape. This role is pivotal in expanding our market presence and fostering relationships with Chinese businesses in the UAE in order to achieve individual sales targets while meeting key customer needs.

YOUR TASKS
  • Act as an ambassador for DHL at all times and attend to customer needs in a professional, friendly and courteous manner.
  • Ensure that a high level of professional rapport is developed and maintained with all customers.
  • Follow up on all customer enquiries and direct customer to the correct DHL department where further information is required.
  • Acquire new DHL customers from the sourcing of suspects through to the closure & effective implementation of the customer’s account.
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of prospects through building a strong opportunity pipeline to ensure that revenue targets are met.
  • Establish customer agreements and ensure that pricing guidelines are always applied and profitability targets for customers are met.
  • Ensure those customers’ prices are reviewed on a regular basis and whenever any discrepancy arises between actual and promised volumes a re-negotiation takes place.
  • Meet and exceed new business targets through acquisition of competitor held accounts.
  • Update daily sales call report and ensure that all calls are entered and that the pipeline is updated.
  • Develop and implement an approach to secure competitors and prospects business in the shortest time possible.
  • Establish prospects pipeline to support this approach and target them accordingly.
  • Manage the portfolio effectively by monitoring customer performance, loyalty and satisfaction to measure success, business fluctuation and possible business at risk.
  • Take appropriate corrective action internally and/or with the customer.
  • Promote DHL brand image and values through own appearance and behavior to reflect DHL high standards and develop customers’ relationships.
YOUR PROFILE
  • Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English is essential.
  • 3-5 years sales related experience.
  • Strong understanding of the Chinese business landscape and culture, with experience in the UAE market being a plus.
  • Good interpersonal understanding & presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative/judgment to solve job related issues.
  • Excellent selling skills in a complex sale environment.
  • Good networking, negotiation skills and strong ability to impact and influence.
  • Experience in a segmented service industry, air express industry or freight forward industry highly preferred.
