Energetech is a leader in energy logistics and commodity trading, solving complex supply chain challenges and creating new trade flows. As we expand our bitumen business, we are focused on supporting road construction, infrastructure projects, and industrial applications across the SADC region.

Our goal is to establish strong market partnerships, optimize distribution networks, and drive commercial growth in this critical sector.

We are seeking an experienced and highly connected Business Development Manager to lead market expansion, customer engagement, and strategic commercial growth in the SADC region. This role requires a deep understanding of bitumen sales, market dynamics, logistics, and infrastructure project requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial mindset, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to drive business growth through a structured market development strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Expansion: Develop and implement a strategy to grow bitumen sales across the SADC region, positioning Energetech as a key partner for infrastructure and construction projects.
  • Customer Acquisition & Relationship Management: Identify, engage, and develop long-term partnerships with road construction firms, infrastructure developers, contractors, and government agencies.
  • Sales & Commercial Strategy: Analyze market needs, define competitive commercial offers, and lead contract negotiations to secure supply agreements.
  • Business Growth & Development: Proactively identify new commercial opportunities, drive demand growth, and expand Energetech's footprint in the bitumen sector.
  • Logistics & Distribution Optimization: Work closely with internal operations and logistics teams to ensure efficient and seamless supply to customers.
  • Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis: Monitor industry trends, infrastructure developments, and government tenders to refine business strategies and capitalize on new opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent Energetech at industry events, trade forums, and high-level meetings to enhance brand visibility and establish key partnerships.
  • Revenue & Performance Management: Track sales performance, pipeline growth, and market trends, ensuring business objectives and revenue targets are met.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Extensive knowledge of the bitumen market, including key buyers, distributors, and infrastructure developers in the SADC region.
  • Proven experience in business development and sales, particularly within construction, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with expertise in pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and market positioning.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and develop new business opportunities, leveraging market intelligence and industry relationships.
  • Effective negotiation and communication skills, with a strong ability to influence decision-makers.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, capable of working independently and executing strategic growth initiatives.
  • Understanding of logistics and distribution challenges related to bitumen and construction materials.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles within bitumen, construction materials, or energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in growing sales and market share within the SADC region.
  • Strong network within road construction, infrastructure development, and government procurement sectors.
  • Experience in negotiating high-value commercial contracts and structuring competitive deals.
  • Familiarity with regional trade flows, infrastructure projects, and tendering processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CRM tools.
  • Ability to travel extensively across the SADC region to develop and maintain customer relationships.
