Who are we recruiting for?
We're supporting a fast-growing clean technology company that provides innovative decarbonization solutions to the global maritime industry. With cutting-edge offerings such as Energy Saving Devices (ESDs), surplus CO₂e credit trading, and compliance support with new regulations like FEUM, they're expanding into the Middle East and Europe and are seeking a motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to lead market entry and growth in these regions.
This is a brand-new role with scope to drive regional strategy, shape commercial success, and be at the forefront of the energy transition in shipping.
What will you be doing?
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in maritime decarbonization, including ESDs, surplus CO₂e credits, and compliance solutions.
- Build a strong pipeline of potential customers - shipowners, charterers, ISM managers, and operators.
- Deliver impactful sales presentations and negotiate commercial deals.
- Lead market research and competitor analysis, staying ahead of trends, regulations, and customer needs.
- Manage end-to-end projects for ESD implementation, working with technical teams, engineers, and classification societies.
- Support pricing, contract structuring, and margin optimisation in carbon credit and emissions trading.
- Act as the local face of the company in either Middle East or Europe, helping shape the client base in preparation for office expansion.
- Track commercial KPIs, reporting on pipeline, revenue, and forecasts to senior leadership.
Are you the ideal candidate?
- 5+ years of experience in business development, commercial or sales roles in shipping, fuel trading, decarbonization, or carbon markets.
- Proven track record in B2B sales, ideally selling to shipowners, charterers, and marine service providers.
- Knowledge of Energy Saving Devices (wind-assist, air lubrication, propeller tech, etc.) and carbon intensity reduction strategies.
- Familiarity with FEUM compliance, IMO decarbonization regulations, and surplus CO₂e credit trading.
- Strong network within the Middle East shipping community is a major advantage.
- Commercially sharp, creative and self-motivated, able to work independently and hit the ground running.
- Degree in Engineering, Maritime, Environmental Science, or Business. Certifications in carbon trading, ESG, or project management are desirable.
What's in it for you?
- Competitive salary & benefits including medical insurance for employee, spouse, and up to 2 children.
- Opportunity to lead market entry in a new, strategic region for a growing sustainability-led business.
- Direct reporting line to the Head of Global Operations, with clear visibility and impact.
- Potential to build a regional presence and grow a team over time.
- Be part of a mission-driven, agile, and innovative company tackling the energy transition in maritime.
