Business Development Engineer Role Description:
Secure projects for the company by developing and maintaining good client relations and market intelligence in line with the company’s growth strategy. Coordinate the roles of the different stakeholders i.e. Estimators, Engineers, Operations during the tendering process. Support in periodic Business Development record upkeep.
Role responsibilities:
Corporate Responsibilities
- Fulfill the role given in maintaining up-to-date lead records on the CRM tools.
- Populating tender and project information as deemed required by corporate ERP tools.
- Populating governance record keeping for internal purposes as required by senior management.
- Prepare tender briefs to highlight key aspects of newly received invitations.
- Follow-up on obtaining needed management approvals for complying with internal tender approval processes (i.e. Delegation of Authority/DoA).
External Responsibilities
- Assist in organizing technical seminars for clients, consultants, and the markets that enhance the Company’s image and position in the market.
- Learn with the intent to present AMANA’s variety of product/service ranges from Construct, Manufacture and Enhance.
- Attend to customer calls and discussion regarding new inquiries.
- Investigate and follow-up new leads to obtain the project brief details and reach the right point of contact to set-up introductory meetings with Clients & Consultants until the receipt of official invitation.
Internal Responsibilities
- Review and prepare AMANA’s prequalification documentation with new clients and consultants as needed for its strategic growth.
- Renewal of AMANA’s prequalification documentation with existing clients and consultants to maintain a strong record.
- Attend to site visits when required and filling a site visit report with supporting pictures.
- Manage tender administration process from the preparation of technical submission documentation including compiling needed input from various internal parties including but not limited to Planning, QA/QC, Operations, Engineering and Sustainability.
- Proofreading tenders’ Commercial submissions from cover letter formatting and Bill of Quantities review to create a comprehensive commercial proposal.
- Support Estimation team with coordination with Procurement Department in negotiating with major suppliers and sub-contractors while tendering.
- Support Estimation team in obtaining the needed support from various department such as Engineering, Planning and Cost Control functions for any required preliminarily designs, Project Schedules Staff Deployment and Manpower Schedule that may impact the estimation process.
- Review tender bank guarantees and insurance policies with Accounts/Finance department.
- Review tender contracts with Contracts department to highlight major/minor commercial risks and opportunities.
- Assist in the preparation for kickoff meeting of the new jobs and ensuring the proper transition of the job to all the relevant departments in the company.
Educational Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Architect, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical)
- 3 to 5 years’ experience working with Contractor, Consultant or Developer
- Experience in CRM tools preferred
- Background within project management, procurement, cost control/estimation, business development and/or contracts department
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills and working knowledge of MS office applications
