Bundling Operator

Operate the tying machines and be able to identify prime and held bundles. Constant monitoring of the binding operation and quick reaction in case of malfunction of the related equipments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

• To plan for binding wire changing activities.
• To ensure that spare binding wire coils are available at all times.
• Monitor continuously the tying machines during operation and report any abnormalities to the concerned section immediately.
• Maintain the cast detail over the bundles and monitor bundle weight.
• Maintain the tag printer in good condition and inform concerned if any defect is noticed.
• Keep work records in a well-documented manner.
• Prepare and print new tags manually regarding finished products.
• Clear short bars under bar counter during weekly downtime.
• Keep the work area clean and tidy.
• Follow all management directives, regulations, and policies relating to safety, quality, health, and environment.
• Assist mill floor staff during downtime/pass guide time.
• Housekeeping responsibilities from RIRT Roller to bundle finishing area as well as zero level.
• Coordinate with Cold Shear operator regarding special length cutting and changes in the number of bars/bundles.
• Ensure short bars are not mixed into prime bundles.
• If mixed, address issues such as weight/meter/bad section/number of bars variation in bundles/portrayed bars/bent bars.
• Able to operate the pendant crane after attending and passing the Safe Crane Operation Course arranged by ESI Training Department.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Level 2 engineer and Process Engineer if there are any problems with material tracking and label printing.
• Work as cold shear operator in his absence if required.

• Good knowledge in tying machine operation and able to operate manually.
• Basic knowledge in computer.
• Able to identify problems in tying machines.
• Knowledge to use gas cutting equipment.
• Good command of English.
• Safety awareness and teamwork.

Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves) Any preferred professional training (Nice to have)

• Technical Diploma holder.

Professional Experience (Must haves) Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations (Nice to have)

• Minimum of 5 years experience as bundling operator in bar mill.
• Work experience as control pulpit operator in the finishing facilities of a long products rolling mill.

Key Performance Indicators

• Maximum of one operator’s mistake per month creating production delays.
• Reduce held bundles per month due to less or excess bars in a bundle inline with departmental KRA’s / Standards.
• Zero complaints from customers regarding tags/short bars.
• Monitor the cutting of the bars at cold shear and inform the supervisor.
