Biomedical Engineer - NMC Healthcare

Performs skilled preventive maintenance tasks on medical equipment. This equipment is connected to patients or is used to diagnose disease. The equipment handled includes:

1. Defibrillators
2. Cardiac Monitors
3. Infant Care Centers
4. Incubators
5. Infusion Pumps
6. Audiometers
7. Electrosurgical Units
8. Microscopes
9. Spirometers
10. Dental Anesthesia Units
11. etc.

Work is performed on equipment throughout medical facilities including Dental and district clinics. Subject to scheduled OnCall for medical equipment emergencies.

Conducts preventive maintenance checks and inspections by observation and application of tests instrument. Advise and assist in the application of instrumentation in clinical environments. Evaluate the safety efficiency and effectiveness of biomedical equipment. Install, adjust, maintain and/or repair biomedical equipment. Performs maintenance and repair tasks including:

1. Disassembly
2. Reassembly
3. Test operation

Prepares requisitions for spare parts procurement from stores/manufacturer. (%) Analyzes equipment for failures, faults or malfunctions based on experience and skill, application of test instruments and reference to technical literature or drawings. Prepares and enters data in logs, reports, forms and equipment records about inspections, repairs, and equipment condition and operation.

Requirements:

1. Degree in BioMedical Engineering
2. Careful measurement and analysis skills
3. Attentive to details
4. Excellent verbal communication with patients, medical staff, and other engineers
5. 3 to 5 years experience in a hospital setup
6. Excellent command of oral and written English to read and understand technical literature and schematics
7. Knowledge in Arabic is desirable but not essential
