Roles and Responsibilities

Engineering Skills:

  1. Mechanical Engineering: Ability to design and develop physical devices and systems.
  2. Electrical Engineering: Knowledge of electronics, sensors, and signal processing for medical equipment.
  3. Software Development: Familiarity with software used in medical devices, including embedded systems and data analysis tools.

Medical and Biological Knowledge:

  1. Deep understanding of human biology, biomechanics, physiology, and how they influence device functionality.
  2. Knowledge of the anatomical and physiological requirements when designing equipment for human use.

Regulatory Knowledge:

  1. Understanding of healthcare regulations, including FDA guidelines, ISO standards, and other national and international standards governing medical devices.
  2. Ability to navigate the approval processes for new medical technologies.

Problem-Solving Skills:

  1. Analytical thinking and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues with medical devices and equipment.
  2. Ability to identify problems in product designs or clinical applications and devise effective solutions.

Communication Skills:

  1. Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, such as healthcare providers or regulatory bodies.
  2. Strong documentation skills for preparing reports, regulatory submissions, and user manuals.

Project Management:

  1. Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to.
  2. Experience with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Trello, Asana) to track progress and collaboration.

Computer-Aided Design (CAD):

  1. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) to design medical devices and equipment prototypes.
  2. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or other simulation tools to test designs before physical prototyping.

Attention to Detail: Precision in designing and testing medical products to ensure they meet rigorous safety and functionality standards.

Desired Candidate Profile

  1. Advisor to Management on latest clinic equipment and technologies.
  2. Accountable to ensure that all patient care and medical equipment in operating rooms, intensive care, clinical labs, including therapeutic and diagnostic clinics are operating as per institutional, national and manufacturer specifications.
  3. Perform preventive maintenance to medical care equipment in a safe, self-directed, and timely manner.
  4. Preceptor to physicians, nurses, and technical staff concerning operation of medical equipment on a formal and informal basis, including technical support during surgeries and medical procedures.
  5. Work with engineers and researchers to design and fabricate specialized devices for use in the clinical and research settings.
  6. Responsible to negotiate with vendors on clinical equipment after preparing BOQ & RFP.
  7. Custodian of all documentation and maintain records pertaining to all repairs, replacement parts, calibrations, and modifications of medical equipment.

What Qualifies You for the Role

  1. Emiratization.
  2. Bachelor's Degree from a recognised institution.
  3. Previous Biomedical experience of working in a healthcare environment.
