Role Overview
The Bilingual Secondary Inclusion Learning Assistant provides academic, social, and emotional support in both Arabic and English to students with Additional Learning Needs (ALNs) in Grades 6-12. This role focuses primarily on supporting Arabic-medium subjects but also assists in English-taught classes when needed. The bilingual Inclusion Learning Assistant works closely with Inclusion Teachers, Arabic and English subject teachers, and therapists. They ensure that students receive appropriate accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction in both languages.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-class support to ensure that students with ALNs can fully engage with lesson content in both Arabic and English-taught subjects.
- Lead pull-out targeted interventions that address individual learning needs and reinforce skills in literacy, numeracy, executive functioning, and social-emotional development in both Arabic and English.
- Assist in modifying instructional materials and assessments to align with student learning needs in Arabic and English-medium subjects.
- Reinforce lesson objectives by scaffolding learning tasks and implementing accommodations as directed by the Inclusion Teachers.
- Support the implementation of IEP goals by tracking student progress and documenting intervention outcomes.
- Provide feedback to the Inclusion Teachers to support the review and updating of IEPs.
- Work closely with Inclusion Teachers, Arabic and English subject teachers, and therapists to ensure that differentiation, accommodations, and modifications are effectively applied in instruction and assessments.
- Support students in developing self-regulation, executive functioning, and communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- Assist in behaviour management by implementing strategies that promote positive student engagement and inclusion in social settings.
- Maintain regular communication with the Inclusion Teachers regarding student progress, challenges, and successes.
- Assist in gathering observations and supporting the development of progress reports for students with ALNs.
- Participate in training sessions on IEP implementation, intervention strategies, assistive technology, and inclusive education practices.
- Contribute to school-wide inclusion initiatives and support events that promote awareness and accessibility.
