Job description

Job Summary

The Bellman is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to hotel guests, especially regarding their luggage and transportation needs. They greet guests upon arrival, assist them with their luggage, and provide information about the hotel's amenities and services. The Bellman must be polite, courteous, and knowledgeable about the local area to provide a positive guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Opening the front door for guests and directing them to the check-in desk.
  2. Showing checked-in guests to their rooms and ensuring that everything in the room is in order (checking the lights, ventilation, and heating).
  3. If any equipment is not working properly, reporting this to the maintenance department for repair.
  4. Introducing the features of the room to guests and explaining how to use the air conditioning system, audiovisual systems, electronic “do not disturb sign” system, coffee-making unit, minibar, and telephone.
  5. Providing guests with information about directions, the hotel, hotel area, and local tourist attractions.
  6. Offering assistance with luggage when guests have checked out (storing it or carrying it to the vehicle).
  7. Giving directions to places of interest, sightseeing, and shopping areas.
  8. Ensuring that each piece of luggage stored has a properly filled tag according to hotel standards, and the owner receives the other part of the luggage tag.
  9. Delivering all guest messages, faxes, letters, and parcels to the guestrooms.
  10. Running errands requested by the Front Desk staff.
  11. Loading and unloading luggage from/to vehicles.
  12. Coordinating the traffic of vehicles in front of the hotel (guests’ cars, limousines, taxis, minivans, buses).
  13. Providing car valet service by driving guests’ cars to and from the hotel’s designated outsourced garage.
  14. Following all health & safety policies.
  15. Implementing, maintaining, and improving departmental policies, procedures, and service standards.
  16. Carrying out any other duties requested by Front Desk Agents or Front Office Manager.
  17. Maintaining a clean and tidy work area at all times (including the lobby and the hotel entrance area).

Skills and Qualifications

  1. At least one year of experience working as a Bellman in a 4-star hotel.
  2. Excellent communication skills with proficiency in speaking and writing English.
  3. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Extremely agile, as the job demands speed and efficiency in execution.
  5. Team player with excellent planning and organizing skills.
  6. Able to work flexible hours with rotating shifts.
  7. Pleasant personality with good problem-solving skills.
