JOB SUMMARY:
This is a physician position responsible for applying medical knowledge and skills to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of illnesses for patients within the Medical Subspecialties Institute Hospital Medicine specialty at CCAD. Under the supervision and guidance of a Consultant physician, this position treats patients directly and/or may make referrals to different members of the health care professional team at CCAD.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
UNDER THE SUPERVISION, GUIDANCE AND APPROVAL OF A CONSULTANT STAFF:
- Monitors and provides care to patients at CCAD within the Hospital Medicine specialty.
- Prescribes or administers medication, therapy and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury.
- Analyzes records, reports and test results to diagnose patient's medical condition.
- Interacts with patients to gather additional history and information about medical condition.
- Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
- Provides specific treatments and/or performs operations to treat patient medical conditions.
- Evaluates patients and records applicable notes about patient's condition for purposes of serving as a record of treatment and/or a possible referral to another member of the health care professional team.
- Liaisons with other medical and non-medical staff at CCAD to ensure quality patient treatment.
- Performs surgical procedures and operations as appropriate.
- Supplies and provides care in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner.
- Takes part in administrative functions that ensure the continued operations of the clinical environment, such as committees, task forces, and performance improvement measures.
- Provides hospital on-call inpatient coverage as deemed necessary.
- Follows ethical and regulatory guidelines.
- Adheres to individual approved clinical privileges, as well as to all policies and procedures of the Physician Staff.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- For Associate Staff (Specialist) from Tier 1 and Tier 2 countries, no additional experience required post board certification.
- For Associate Staff (Specialist) from Tier 3, not less than 3 years clinical experience as Specialist post qualification in internationally accredited institute. UAE nationals require not less than one (1) year experience post qualification in the specialty field.
- Should meet the Maintenance of Certification requirements (where applicable).
- Demonstrated expertise in specialty practice area.
- Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills with patients, staff, and other physicians.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive data at all times.
- Ability to speak and write in English is required.
- Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
MD, MBBS, MBChB or DO (only if the specialization is obtained from one of the following: American Board of Medical Specialties or Certificates of Specializations of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada) or equivalent qualification from an accredited Institution and completion of specialty qualification as per the Recognized Specialty Certificate table listed in Healthcare Professionals Qualification Requirements 2022.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical physical demands include a moderate degree of dexterity to produce materials on a computer and mobility sufficient to attend meetings in clinical departments throughout CCAD.
