Associate Principal - Secondaries

Participate in the sourcing, execution, monitoring and managing of the Secondaries portfolio with the objective of outperforming the relevant benchmarks while operating within the defined investment guidelines.

• Support senior investment professionals on managing the Council's coverage of the US Secondaries market with the objective of outperforming the relevant benchmarks while operating within the defined investment guidelines.
• Participate in the sourcing, evaluation and execution of new investment opportunities across Secondaries GP-led, LP-led and secondary structured solutions transactions.
• Post-closing, monitor and track the success of closed deals and analyze their performance against established benchmarks and stated expectations.
• Participate in formulating the portfolio planning and investment processes of the Secondaries department.
• Build a deep and broad network of senior executives within private markets and Secondaries investor landscape.
• Maintain strong relationships with intermediaries/consultants that serve as a sourcing tool.
• Participate in generating deal flow and investment ideas in global markets considering all relevant macro and industry trends in accordance with the Secondaries mandate.
• Support with all investment activities related to the Secondaries market be it indirectly through funds participation, directly through co-investments, or on a direct basis.
• Participate in off-site and on-site due diligences of the GPs, focusing on performance, investment strategy and processes, team, competitive advantage, fund commercial and legal terms, peer comparison, etc.
• Prepare and discuss internally, as required, periodic monitoring reports. Conduct ongoing review of existing investments' progress in relation to initial investment objectives.
• Attend internal meetings with fund managers and senior management team as required.
• Prepare material and questions for meetings and conferences and prepare reports on all advisory board meetings.
• Coordinate with relevant internal counterparts in Primaries and Co-investments teams to share institutional knowledge across private markets asset classes.
• Carry out other similar or related duties, such as researching and preparing ad hoc studies and analysis on the Secondaries market.
• Oversee and train junior investment professionals across various workstreams (e.g., financial modeling, slide development, etc.).
  
  

• Bachelor's degree and/or MBA from a reputable university.
• Relevant investment experience covering the US market at a renowned investment firm, with a solid working knowledge of private markets and Secondaries.
• Sound awareness of industry practices in asset management, such as pre-acquisition due diligence, manager selection processes, manager monitoring and performance attribution.
• Strong analytical, technical and logical thought construct capabilities.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to interact effectively with senior internal/external stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds.
