Job description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Tax Assistant Manager to join our Tax Team. This role requires strong technical tax knowledge, leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage client engagements efficiently. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering tax audits, tax compliance, advisory, and planning services to clients, while supporting team development and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance and Advisory:

  • Manage the preparation and review of corporate tax returns to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Assist in tax advisory projects, including tax planning, restructuring, and cross-border transactions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filings, correspondence with tax authorities, and responses to audits and inquiries.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on clients.

Review of Tax as Part of Statutory Audits:

  • Collaborate with audit teams to review tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and other tax-related disclosures during statutory audits.
  • Identify and resolve tax risks or compliance issues uncovered during audit reviews.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable tax accounting standards and reporting frameworks.
  • Provide technical tax support and insights to audit teams during client engagements.

Client Management:

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for assigned engagements.
  • Provide clients with tailored tax advice and innovative solutions to meet their business needs.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell the firm's services.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train junior tax staff, ensuring their professional growth and technical development.
  • Allocate and monitor team workload to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance and review work prepared by team members.

Operational Excellence:

  • Collaborate with other departments to provide comprehensive consulting services.
  • Contribute to the development of internal tax processes, templates, and best practices.
  • Support business development initiatives, including proposals and presentations.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field (Master's or additional tax qualifications preferred).
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent).
  • At least 5 years of experience in tax consulting, compliance, or advisory roles, preferably in a professional services or consulting firm (Big four preferred).

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of local and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience with tax software and financial reporting systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering collaboration.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Timeliness and accuracy of tax compliance deliverables.
  • Quality of tax reviews conducted as part of statutory audits.
