The Assistant Restaurant Manager at Tortilla Restaurant plays a key role in supporting the overall management and operation of the restaurant. This position involves assisting the restaurant manager in overseeing daily activities, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing staff, maintaining high operational standards, and driving business growth.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the restaurant manager in supervising and coordinating the activities of front-of-house and back-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service.
  2. Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure availability of ingredients, supplies, and equipment necessary for smooth operations.
  3. Train, mentor, and motivate staff on restaurant policies, procedures, and customer service standards, ensuring consistent adherence.
  4. Monitor and manage customer satisfaction, promptly addressing any concerns or complaints to ensure a positive dining experience.
  5. Collaborate with the restaurant manager in implementing strategies to drive transaction growth, increase average order value (AOV), and achieve sales growth like-for-like (LFL) while managing P & L.
  6. Support the restaurant manager in analyzing financial reports, sales data, and operational metrics to drive revenue growth and cost efficiencies.
  7. Assist in scheduling staff, optimizing labor costs, and ensuring appropriate coverage during peak hours and special events.
  8. Oversee health and safety (H&S) protocols, ensuring compliance, a safe working environment, and effective accident/incident management.
  9. Assist in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new staff members, conducting interviews and managing the administration process.
  10. Monitor and control stock levels, implement stock rotation procedures, and minimize wastage to maximize profitability.
  11. Collaborate with suppliers to manage deliveries, monitor dispatch times, and ensure timely receipt of quality ingredients and products.
  12. Assist in managing the delivery dispatch process to ensure orders are dispatched in a timely and efficient manner.
  13. Collaborate with the kitchen and service teams to ensure prompt preparation and packaging of delivery orders.
  14. Monitor the order queue and assist in assigning delivery drivers based on availability and proximity to the delivery location.
  15. Monitor and manage the average preparation time for delivery orders to ensure timely and accurate order preparation.
  16. Oversee the overall running of the restaurant, ensuring smooth operations, efficient service, and effective communication between staff members.
  17. Manage customer satisfaction by monitoring service quality, response time, and complaint management, striving for continuous improvement.
  18. Collaborate with the restaurant manager to develop and implement training programs, performance evaluations, and recognition initiatives.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience in a supervisory or assistant management role in the restaurant industry.
  2. Strong leadership and organizational skills to assist in managing a team and overseeing restaurant operations.
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with staff, guests, and vendors.
  4. Exceptional customer service skills with a passion for creating a welcoming and memorable dining experience.
  5. In-depth knowledge of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house procedures.
  6. Familiarity with financial reporting, sales analysis, and cost control measures.
  7. Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism and diplomacy.
  8. Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations in a restaurant environment.
  9. Proficient computer skills for point-of-sale systems, inventory management, and scheduling software.
  10. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  11. Ability to lift and carry moderate weights and stand for extended periods.
  12. Knowledge of Tortilla Restaurants menu, brand, and service standards is an advantage.
