Assistant Operations Manager (Transportation Industry - Trucks and Trailers) - Fleet Management / Logistics

Transafe Logistics LLC, part of Mazrui International - Trading Division, is hiring an Assistant Operations Manager to lead a team of Transportation Supervisors and Operations Executives for the efficient scheduling of deliveries of dangerous goods.

Location: Dubai, UAE

The ideal candidate must have experience in managing a fleet of trucks and trailers transporting dangerous goods within UAE and cross-border.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the team for Transportation Supervisors & Operations Executives.
  • Developing efficient driver schedules to maximize profits.
  • Managing cross-border operations along with the team to ensure full utilization of fleet and rotation.
  • Ensuring drivers adhere to strict schedules.
  • Finding ways to cut costs and maximize profits from maintenance activities and efficient fuel consumption.
  • Scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
  • Ensuring all POs and invoices are processed on time and shared with customers/suppliers, and ensuring data is updated in Oracle.
  • Completing GRNs upon maintenance work completion, sending invoices for booking, and informing the operations team to close the job.
  • Following up on payments with customers.
  • Preparing outstanding statements and sending them to customers.
  • Following up with suppliers for invoices for work done.
  • Monitoring driver behavior and ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Taking responsibility for efficient scheduling of deliveries, proper routing of trucks, and managing telephone orders and related delivery information.
  • Updating and monitoring drivers’ locations.
  • Sending daily, weekly & monthly reports, ensuring accuracy of monthly closing reports.
  • Leading the driver hiring process to select the best drivers.
  • Being responsible for all assets of the UAE branch and their allocation based on customers’ needs.
  • Maintaining full control of tire management for the whole fleet.
  • Guiding drivers for offloading to different destinations and assisting with necessary documents.
  • Managing the registration process for trucks/trailers and following up with government authorities.
  • Setting up and maintaining all driver files.
  • Following company policies and procedures regarding lease extensions.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the business unit manager.
  • Managing QHSE and supporting safety objectives.
  • Participating in mock drills and training related to RTS.
  • Engaging in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions as required.
  • Organizing and maintaining computerized records for the FMS.
  • Carrying out system administration tasks as required for Oracle and the FMS to manage the fleet.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain or Accounting.
  • 5+ years in a logistics role in the transportation industry.
  • Knowledge of transportation of dangerous goods across land.
  • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
