Provide nursing care as delegated and supervised by the registered nurse licensed for independent practice, yet remain responsible and accountable for their actions.
Work as valuable multidisciplinary healthcare team members and contribute to the overall planning and delivery of nursing tasks. ANs are not expected to have a role in preparation, administration, or documentation of medications, as this element of performance lies outside their scope of clinical practice competency.
Assist patients with their daily living activities such as ambulation, transferring, physical activities and range of motion, dressing, grooming, bathing, and personal hygiene.
Support the provision of nonpharmacological comfort and pain relief interventions such as establishing and maintaining an environment conducive to comfort.
Observe and report changes in the patient’s status and reactions to different aspects of care.
Perform procedures like measuring fluid intake and output, measuring height and weight, transporting patients and specimens.
Contribute to patient education on health risk factors and understanding of major health determinants.
Contribute to patient and family education on the development of behavioral strategies related to healthy living.
Participate in the implementation of health promotion strategies for early detection and screening for infectious diseases.
Assist specialists/consultants in specific procedures done in the OPD.
Perform the initial assessment of the patients.
Demonstrate priority setting or triage skills and timeliness in responding to patient’s needs.
Maintain and update all relevant patient documentation/medical records as per hospital policy and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the department as per infection control and waste management policy of the hospital.
Demonstrate vigilance in identifying patients with communicable diseases and following the appropriate isolation technique for such patients.
Maintain confidentiality of patient’s records.
Assess the patient and family education needs and provide health education.
Follow the reporting mechanisms/chain of command in the Nursing Department, ensuring patient care issues are correctly and quickly reported.
Take responsibility for professional clinical practice and actively participate in updating and continuing education.
Be competent with cardio-pulmonary resuscitation techniques.
Participate as a member of the Emergency Code team as per hospital policy.
Demonstrate an economical approach to the utilization of equipment and supplies while assisting the Charge Nurse to maintain an appropriate ward stock.
Be responsible for daily checking of crash carts and emergency equipment as per hospital policy.
Be responsible for appropriate storage and maintaining inventory as per hospital policy.
Be responsible for appropriate storage and maintaining inventory of Hazmat items including the MSDS as per hospital policy.
Demonstrate sound knowledge and participate in fire safety, patient safety, infection control, and other necessary precautions as per hospital policy.
Demonstrate strict adherence to all hospital policies and procedures.
Carry out other duties as instructed by the Nursing Shift Supervisor/Nursing Director.
Be responsible for implementing health and safety measures related to the Pandemic for themselves and others by their actions or omissions, and continue the provision of health-care during a pandemic.
Comply with management's instructions and policies, i.e., follow safe work practices, use equipment, wear protective equipment, participate in training, and report hazards or injury, etc.
Monitor their own health and immediately report any issues of concern to their HOD.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Current license in country of origin and with DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Minimum 2 years nursing experience after qualification.
BLS provider certification.
Good English spoken & written; Arabic language advantageous/desirable but not essential.
