Job Description:

The Assistant Manager – Treasury Operations is a mid-level role designed to oversee and enhance key treasury processes while supporting strategic projects and compliance initiatives. This position will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient operations, accurate reporting, and effective management of Group Treasury activities. Reporting directly to the Group Head of Treasury, the role involves a mix of operational oversight, project management, and quality control to drive treasury excellence in alignment with ESAG’s Vision 2025 objectives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Cash Management:
    • Acting back up to Group head in ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet the organization’s short-term requirements.
    • Review and submit daily cash position reports to the Group Treasury Manager (GTM) and provide insights for optimization of cash utilization.
    • Monitor and oversee cash forecasting accuracy, ensuring alignment with operational and strategic goals.
  2. In-House Banking (IHB) Operations:
    • Supervise the daily treasury reconciliations of Head Office and Group accounts.
    • Ensure accurate and timely generation of reports for Group entities and Head Office.
    • Serve as a primary escalation point for IHB-related queries from Group companies, offering resolutions and process improvements.
  3. Payment Processing and Trade Finance:
    • Oversee payment factory operations and ensure approvals are processed in accordance with internal mandates.
    • Back up for Group Head for approving payments/ processes
    • Manage the end-to-end month-end closing activities for treasury.
  4. FX and Risk Management:
    • Validate foreign exchange requests against exposures recorded in SAP.
    • Oversee the preparation and distribution of monthly mark-to-market reports to Group entities.
  5. Cash Forecasting and Variance Analysis:
    • Assist Group Head in consolidating Group-level cash forecasts and generating variance reports.
    • Assist Group Head in providing in-depth analysis and insights to support the Group’s liquidity management strategy.
  6. Bank Relationship Management:
    • Assist in reviewing the day-to-day banking requirements, including account openings, closures, and issue resolution as well as acting back up for bank facility management.
  7. Project Management:
    • Provide comprehensive support in the implementation of ERP and Treasury Management System (TMS) enhancements for Group Treasury.
    • Assist in conducting detailed analysis to identify process gaps and improvement opportunities, ensuring alignment with treasury objectives.
    • Participate in hands-on reviews of system workflows, offering practical insights and feedback to improve functionality.
    • Assist in creating thorough documentation, including process flows, user guides, and testing protocols.
    • Facilitate system testing by preparing test cases, executing scenarios, and ensuring results align with project goals.
    • Assist Group head in preparation of presentations to stakeholders, summarizing project updates, findings, and recommendations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation and transition of system enhancements.
    • Assist in reviewing and updating treasury policies and procedures.
  8. Quality Control and Compliance:
    • Act as a quality control function to ensure accurate transaction processing.
    • Provide an audit perspective on treasury-related activities and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  9. Ad Hoc Support:
    • Address any additional requirements to ensure the smooth functioning of treasury operations.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Educational Background: University degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is required.
  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in treasury operations, including a minimum of 2 years in a Senior Analyst or equivalent role, with responsibilities similar to those of an Assistant Manager.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in ERP and Treasury Management Systems (TMS), with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Treasury Knowledge: In-depth understanding of cash management, foreign exchange (FX), and treasury operations, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency in high-volume transactions.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to manage complex financial scenarios and support decision-making processes.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to maintain precision and accuracy, particularly in high-pressure environments with significant transaction volumes.
  • Communication and Leadership: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven capability to manage projects and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Project Management: Experience in contributing to treasury-related projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic goals.
