Job description

As an Assistant Store Manager, he/she will manage the day-to-day shop operations ranging from customer service to after-sales service and handle all administrative functions being the main interface with the back office team. He/she will manage staff, control stock levels/inventories, organize shop layout and prepare weekly/monthly reports. Furthermore, he/she shall attend buying if required and maintain an active customer database to achieve set targets and secure continuous added value at all times. He/she will work closely with his/her respective Retail Manager for the smooth running of the Boutique operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be present on the shop floor to generate sales and handle VIP customers.
  • Conduct sales analysis, follow up on market trends and monitor the competition's activity.
  • Propose ways to improve the business: in-store merchandising, opening hours, product mix.
  • Produce quantitative and qualitative sales reports.

Customer Service

  • Identify customer potential needs and use initiatives to meet those needs.
  • Ensure consistency in customer service delivered and handle all complaints.
  • Ensure building, maintaining and using the customer database.

Stock Management

  • Enter all received goods and ensure stock control and proper record of all stock movements.
  • Supervise the replenishment process to avoid and report any overstock along with the suggested corrective action.
  • Prepare for the inventory.

General Operations

  • Coordinate with the back office, suppliers, logistics, marketing and merchandising teams regarding new launches, in-store animation or renovation and provide feedback accordingly.
  • Follow up on different issues with Mall Management such as permits and security.
  • Monitor customer movement into the shop and detect any theft or violation.
  • Acquire product knowledge to create product awareness to the customer and monitor inventory and stock availability.
  • Check sales figures, assist in pricing adjustments.
  • Organize shop layout, merchandise and display items effectively on shelves.
  • Decorate and animate window displays as per the brand standards and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular checks on the organization and cleanliness of the stock room and shelves.
  • Ensure staff compliance and proper implementation of procedures.
  • Ensure smooth and effective running of daily activities.
  • Maintain high standards of Visual Merchandising housekeeping in terms of cleanliness, display, lighting and stock rotation.
  • Implement all merchandising as per the brand's visual merchandising guidelines.
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs to check presentation standards.

People Management

  • Prepare schedules to ensure full coverage of the shop floor and maintain grooming standards of the staff.
  • Can be involved in the recruitment process of Shop Staff and Sales Executives within his/her domain.
  • Manage, engage and delegate the responsibilities of the team reporting to her.
  • Conduct assessments of own team members.
  • Responsible for coaching and training own team members.
  • Reconcile daily reports with the Accounting Department.
  • Ascertain proper labeling and receipt of shipments with the PSAS Department.
  • Prepare, discuss and set staff monthly objectives.
  • Coordinate stock transfers and present monthly feedback on product movement.
  • Discuss staff-related issues such as annual leaves, confirmations and ensure proper adherence to policies in practice.
  • Provide relevant reports on periodic sales and stock movement to assist in buying/buying reviews if necessary.

  • Previous experience in a managerial role in luxury retail.
  • Accurate and detail-oriented.
  • Follows and understands procedures.
  • Flexible and able to work under pressure.
