Kings School Al Barsha is seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher Academics to join our dynamic leadership team from August 2025. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in student progress, data analysis, and curriculum development. They will play a pivotal role in ensuring high academic standards, working closely with the Deputy Headteacher Academics, Heads of Department, and the Teaching and Learning team. The successful candidate will be expected to inspire both students and staff, driving academic excellence and innovation across the school.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- A relevant degree with PGCE and QTS.
- At least three years of middle or senior leadership experience in secondary education.
- A proven track record of achieving consistently outstanding results at GCSE and A-Level.
- An exceptional classroom practitioner with a deep understanding of outstanding teaching and learning strategies.
- A strong record of impacting student outcomes and raising academic standards.
- Proven ability to use data-driven strategies to improve student performance.
- A track record of leading curriculum innovation and assessment practices.
- A track record of leading dynamic teams successfully.
- Experience in a British curriculum setting; familiarity with DSIB expectations is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership & Student Outcomes
- Oversee student progress, attainment, and curriculum implementation across Key Stages 3-5.
- Support and develop high-impact teaching strategies to drive student achievement.
- Ensure the effective use of student data to inform intervention strategies and enhance progress.
- Lead academic tracking and monitoring systems, ensuring rigorous assessment practices.
- Develop and oversee interventions for underachieving students and strategies to challenge the More Exceptionally Able and Enthusiastic (MEAE) students.
Curriculum & Teaching Excellence
- Work with Heads of Department to ensure a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum.
- Support curriculum development and ensure alignment with GCSE and A-Level expectations.
- Assist in leading quality assurance processes, including lesson observations, work scrutiny, and learning walks.
- Lead initiatives to embed research-based best practices into teaching and learning.
- Model outstanding classroom practice, ensuring excellence in teaching across all departments.
- Support the Deputy Headteacher Academics in developing and implementing professional development programmes for staff.
- Mentor and coach middle leaders and teaching staff to drive continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the performance management process, ensuring high standards of teaching and leadership.
- Play an active role in staff recruitment, ensuring we continue to attract and retain high-calibre educators.
Strategic Leadership & School Development
- Assist in preparing for DSIB inspections and ensuring compliance with all academic regulatory standards.
- Contribute to the School Development Plan, implementing strategies that drive academic success.
- Work closely with the Exams Officer to ensure the smooth running of internal and external assessments.
- Oversee the effective use of the school’s Management Information System (MIS) to track student progress and inform teaching.
Parental Engagement & Community Partnerships
- Communicate academic progress and strategies effectively with parents.
- Work with key stakeholders to foster a culture of high expectations for students.
- Support initiatives that celebrate student achievement and enhance the academic reputation of the school.
