Kent College Dubai is seeking an exceptional teacher and leader to take on the role of Assistant Head (Teaching and Learning) within the senior school. This role will sit on the senior school SLT (Cabinet) and be part of the wider whole school leadership team.
This is a vital appointment to the continued development of the senior school. The successful candidate will lead on teaching and learning, CPD, and appraisal systems; building on the excellent work that has taken place in recent years. They will work closely with all members of SLT (both junior and senior) to ensure that KCD becomes renowned for its classroom practice. They must be an outstanding teacher in their subject; have a deep commitment to their own development, and believe in the importance of coaching.
Job Description
The below will be discussed at interview, but it can be presumed that the following will make up the roles and responsibilities of the post:
Teach a set number of lessons per week (c8 hours) in any subject.
Lead on teaching and learning across the school; driving improvements for all teachers and students.
Lead on CPD, creating engaging and informative sessions for all staff.
Lead on appraisal, developing systems and processes that ensure accountability, but also development and learning for staff.
Support the Head of Senior School with recruitment, and play an active role in the process.
Work with SLT and Kent College Canterbury to create a developing middle and senior leaders programme.
Develop a coaching programme within the school community.
Work with the Whole School Innovation Lead to ensure excellence in digital teaching and learning.
Line manage a certain number of Heads of Department.
Be part of the Senior Academic Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will:
Hold a relevant degree and teaching qualification, likely to be from a British or Irish University depending on the subject.
Have a minimum of four years teaching experience, ideally in a British curriculum school.
Be committed to upholding the KCD Staff Charter, which can be found attached to this advert.
Be willing to immerse themselves into school life, contributing to our pastoral system and ECA provision.
