Faculty Positions Assistant/Associate Professor

The School of Communications and Creative Industries at Canadian University Dubai (CUD) invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We seek highly qualified candidates with a strong academic background, a passion for teaching and research, and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Digital Media and Journalism
• Public Relations
• Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communications
• Creative Industries (including Media Business, Fashion Industry, Music Industry, Events, and Live Entertainment)

Position Overview

Faculty members are expected to serve as subject matter experts, contributing to the development and delivery of high-quality academic programs. They will support the Program Chair/Coordinator in managing program operations and ensuring that the curriculum aligns with the university's academic standards and the requirements of the UAE Ministry of Education Higher Education Affairs.

Reporting to the Dean of the School, faculty members will work collaboratively with the Chair/Coordinator and relevant administrative staff. They will teach a full course load, maintain office hours, and may receive adjustments for research or community engagement in consultation with the Chair/Coordinator, Dean, and Provost.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty members are expected to contribute to research, curriculum development, and institutional service, fostering academic excellence and industry engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Academic Duties

• Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in the relevant field.
• Develop and update course syllabi to meet accreditation standards.
• Maintain accurate student records and submit grades in a timely manner.
• Participate in curriculum evaluation and enhancement.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, particularly those at academic risk.
• Recommend and develop learning resources and instructional materials.
• Supervise independent studies and capstone projects.
• Stay current with advancements in the discipline through research and professional engagement.

Research & Scholarly Contributions

• Conduct high-quality research in the candidate's area of expertise.
• Publish in internationally recognized, high-impact Scopus-indexed journals.
• Seek research collaborations and external funding opportunities.
• Engage in interdisciplinary research and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Administrative & Community Engagement

• Support the Program Chair/Coordinator in program administration and operations.
• Contribute to accreditation and quality assurance processes.
• Advise students during registration and academic planning.
• Attend faculty meetings and participate in institutional committees.
• Engage in professional development and orientation activities.
• Represent Canadian University Dubai in academic and industry events.
• Participate in outreach initiatives that strengthen CUD's industry and community connections.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Ph.D. in one of the relevant specializations listed above, obtained from a QS Top 500-ranked institution, preferably a Western-accredited university.
• Proven track record of teaching excellence at the university level.
• Strong research portfolio with publications in high-impact, Scopus-indexed journals.
• Familiarity with Canadian and international media landscapes is preferred.
• Prior teaching experience in the Middle East is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with Canadian academic affiliations, including:

• A degree from a Canadian university.
• Teaching experience at a Canadian institution.
• Demonstrated professional or research connections to Canada/North America.
