Assistance Nurse

Job Purpose:

Provide patient care under the Nurse Practice Act, professional standards of care, state regulations, and accreditation standards of Dubai Health Authority philosophy, policies, and procedures.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including electronic health records (EHRs) input, by interviewing patients about current problems, medications, and allergies and reviewing their medical records for pertinent previous and current information.
  • Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition to the nurse.

Support to Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs):

  • Establish and document patient treatment regimen under the supervision of the registered nurse or the physician and implement treatment.
  • Perform routine immunizations, nebulizer treatments, and visual acuity testing, and administer and read TB tests.
  • Assist with phlebotomy by identifying patients, checking requisition forms, and preparing equipment and puncture sites.
  • Assists in IV set-up by verifying the solution to be administered, evaluating infusion site, checking IV function and patient comfort, and discontinuing IV at the appropriate time, as ordered by the physician.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of nursing stations and exam rooms are stocked with the necessary supplies, as well as, prepare rooms at the start and end of the day and between patient visits.
  • Perform a variety of office responsibilities: answer phone and take messages.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new personnel.
  • Assist in scheduling patient appointments and managing patient flow.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.

Compliance with Quality of care and Safety:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control practices, ethical guidelines, UAE regulations, and Dubai Health’s policies and procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control protocols.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE to protect patients and staff.
  • Adherence to common safety hazards and precautions and following healthcare facility policies, procedures, and regulations to establish a safe work environment.
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and drills
  • Any other assignments related to the nature of the job assigned by the management.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Diploma in Nursing

Experience Requirements:

  • 2 years

Certification & Licensure:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • CPRB
  • Licenses as Assistant Nurse in Dubai Health Authority.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in busy or emergency situations.
  • Ability to Interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English to patients in person and over the telephone.

  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients.
  • Problem-solving skills.
