Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) was founded in 1976 as a hotel owner and asset manager and has evolved into a hospitality group that encompasses hotels, restaurants, destination management services, catering and transportation.

Job Purpose

High level of responsibility, overseeing a project from inception to completion. The candidate should possess creativity, excellent technical ability/knowledge, and strong communication and management skills.

Main Accountabilities

  1. Manage architecture-related aspects for projects including renovations, upgrades, and maintenance.
  2. Incorporate integrated and sustainable design solutions into projects and develop solutions to design problems.
  3. Ensure all design and construction detail documentation conform to QA/QC best practice standards.
  4. Assist the senior manager in the tendering process and selection of consultants, contractors, suppliers, and service providers as directed.
  5. Manage preparation of technical drawings by other design consultants.
  6. Review and recommend technical/commercial proposals issued by consultants, contractors, and service providers.
  7. Ensure that all projects are designed and completed as per the agreed specifications and within the approved budget and time.
  8. Ensure that all operational requirements have been provided in the design and are within the approved budget and time.
  9. Agree on contract documents (architectural specifications, drawings, design, etc.).
  10. Review and agree on bids analysis prepared by other consultants including recommendations for contract award.
  11. Assist in analyzing consultant recommendations concerning similar or equally approved material, submittal of samples to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  12. Review and assess consultants' evaluations for contractors' variation claims.
  13. Conduct regular site visits during the construction stage and prepare assessment reports to SM-PD&E.
  14. Review consultants' and contractors' due payments in accordance with the contract.
  15. Assist in the handover process from construction to operation and vice versa.
  16. Monitor and ensure compliance of all hotels with both capital and operational budgets.
  17. Monitor and ensure all assets are properly recorded, listed, and tracked.
  18. Prepare periodic status reports for each project to be presented to SM-PD&E.
  19. Oversee, monitor, and ensure compliance with local authority codes and standards and obtain/maintain all necessary licenses, permits, and approvals.
  20. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Architecture.
  2. 15 years of professional experience in construction, hotel/resort design, practical experience with large development projects, and working experience with multi-disciplinary project teams.
  3. Sound technical and project management knowledge.
  4. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing (English).
  5. Strong hand and advanced CAD drafting skills, proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, 3D modelling software such as 3D Studio Max, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and knowledge in Revit.
  6. Ability to prepare space planning and area schedules during initial and concept phases.
  7. Strong design skills required with good knowledge of sustainable building design.
  8. Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
  9. Advanced knowledge of QA/QC processes, building codes, and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.
  10. Good knowledge of hotel operations.
  11. Good knowledge of interior design will be an added advantage.
