Job description

Our Client, an international law firm, is now looking to recruit a paralegal to support the finance and banking team in the Dubai office.

Typical responsibilities may include:

- Assisting with translating requests for example, drafting basic letters to the governmental departments and/ ministries, translating trade licences or specific clauses within an agreement.
- Liaising with Federal and local Government Departments and Ministries to ascertain new legal developments in the UAE;
- Liaising with Federal and local Government Departments and Ministries to ascertain transactional legal requirements;
- Liaising with various free zones in relation to setting up companies, changing directors and/ transferring shares in a company;
- Liaising with internal and external clients and lawyers in relation to transactions and/ business development projects;
- Legal and ad hoc research required to keep the department fully up to date with developments for specific areas of law, including monitoring Arabic language UAE legal developments;
- Preparation of both physical and virtual data rooms and assisting with the administration of the transaction;
- Proof-reading/drafting/amending transactional documents and ensuring that all relevant documentation is collated;
- Assisting where required with signing and closing meetings;
- Assisting in collating and drafting general know-how and presentations primarily for the corporate team;
- Compiling disclosure documents and transactional bibles;
- Assisting with transactions such as basic due diligence tasks;
- Assisting with other ad-hoc legal and non-legal tasks as requested by partners/senior lawyers.

You should be a consistently high academic achiever and fluent in English and Arabic (written, spoken and reading). You should also be comfortable with legal terminology and be able to draft legal documentation in either language.

You should be able to demonstrate strong communications skills, excellent organizational skills and have a very high level of concentration and attention to detail. You will also be able to demonstrate experience of working in a team and of taking responsibility for matters.

You will have at least a basic understanding of English law and legal principles and a good commercial exposure and understanding of how a deal operates.

You should be PC literate with a very good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Legal research experience and some knowledge of finance in studies and/or work experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
