Job Description Wood is currently recruiting for an Applications Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. The Applications Engineer will assist with preparing technical proposals for our Vibration, Dynamics and Noise (VDN) business This is an opportunity to use your skills and experience with reciprocating compressors to prepare technical proposals for our clients. With a focus on API618 studies, the work can also extend to structural dynamics and piping studies and can be applied to other types of machinery including screw compressors, centrifugal compressors, and pumps. A technically strong individual, who is interested in learning more about the commercial side of the business and interfacing with clients, will thrive in this role. Responsibilities
Provide a timely response to clients who are seeking assistance with conducting engineering design studies on new equipment
Prepare and submit proposals
Manage existing client relationships and follow up with proposals
Seek out new opportunities with new clients
Coordinate with other groups within VDN when issues cross over with other disciplines
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
Minimum of 5 years of experience with rotating or reciprocating machinery
Strong technical and project management skills
In addition to technical expertise and competencies, you are enthusiastic, resourceful, organized, and detail oriented.
Excellent interpersonal and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and respond to time-sensitive issues
Excellent communication skills (written and spoken), with the ability to communicate effectively and engage internal and external stakeholders
Must be a US citizen, or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood
