Exciting Opportunity in Dubai, UAE: Join Us as an Air Logistics Operational Care Team Leader!

Your Role

The Operations Export Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and managing the export operations team to deliver export services for customers. This role involves coordinating the export process, ensuring compliance with international regulations, managing airlines and gateways coordination, and executing the customers’ requirements in cooperation with Customer Care Team and Revenue Care Center, ensuring a high level of customer service that aligns with customer requirements, including transit times, carrier selection, and routings. The role includes securing buy rates (when necessary) and capacity with qualified carriers or partners through KN gateways. As an integral member of the export team (Operational Care Centers), the Operations Care Export Team Leader will be accountable for a range of products including general cargo, pharmaceuticals, perishables, dangerous goods, aerospace, engines, and project cargo, as well as integrated services such as sea/air, air/air, and road/air. All responsibilities must adhere to air transport regulations, national protocols, and be executed using Kuehne+Nagel operational systems.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the daily operations of the export department.
  2. Monitor team performance, planning, resource allocation, and operational metrics.
  3. Act as a primary point of contact for escalations, addressing customers' needs and resolving customer complaints and issues promptly and effectively.
  4. Coordinate with operational care colleagues (trucking, customs, messenger), customer care team, revenue care center to ensure timely and accurate transportation of goods, and maximize customer service.
  5. Partner with airlines, KN gateway, and other carriers to procure space and secure best transport to ensure most efficient and cost-effective transportation.
  6. Manage flight bookings, track shipments, and address any issues or delays with airlines.
  7. Handle supplier contracts via SMT (Supplier Management Tool) and manage relationships with external partners such as ground handling agents, customs officials, dangerous goods agents, packing companies.
  8. Optimize productivity and costs through cost-saving initiatives such as consolidation, route planning, integrated transportation modes, rates re-buying, etc.
  9. Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and complies with international regulations and customer requirements.
  10. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  11. Manage operational tasks through Business Process Automation tools and all related features.
  12. Collaborate with the management team to develop and execute strategic plans for the export department.
  13. Deliver service excellence through a high level of forwarding and market knowledge, ensuring orders meet agreed service levels, procedures, and KPIs.
  14. Review and ensure alignment of shipping instructions to clarify any deviations or conflicts for instance country regulations, compliance, or internal pricing information.
  15. Ensure compliance in line with Kuehne+Nagel guidelines, adhere to international trade regulations, customs laws, and legal standards including Quality, Security, Health & Safety and Environment standards.
  16. Report problems, operational disputes, or discrepancies to supervisors, managers, divisional managers, or branch managers in an immediate manner.

Your Skills and Experiences

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in Kuehne+Nagel.
  2. Knowledge of Kuehne+Nagel products, services, and processes is a plus.
  3. Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  4. Proven leadership with a high degree of communication skills and change management mindset.
  5. Performance-driven with high time management skills.
  6. High level of attention to detail and managerial skills in organizing, planning, assigning, and controlling, as well as decision-making skills.
  7. Flexibility with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
