Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager oversees financial operations, including preparing accurate financial statements, managing budgets, ensuring tax compliance, and maintaining internal controls. This role involves supervising accounts payable/receivable processes, leading a team of accountants, and coordinating with external auditors and partners. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting expertise, leadership experience, and proficiency in financial systems to support organizational goals effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, profit & loss, cash flow, etc.)
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to senior management to support decision-making.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.

Accounts Payable & Receivable Management:

  • Supervise the accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate payments and collections.
  • Review and approve invoices and payments, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation and management of the annual budget.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecasts, and report variances.

Tax Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and file tax returns, and manage tax audits as required.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure accurate and efficient work.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support the development of team members.

Internal Controls & Compliance:

  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.

General Ledger Management:

  • Oversee the general ledger and ensure proper coding and reconciliation of transactions.
  • Review journal entries and month-end close processes.

Audit & External Relationships:

  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and assist with the preparation of audit schedules and financial statements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key external partners, such as banks, auditors, and tax advisors.

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CA, CPA or equivalent professional certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and tax preparation.
  • Previous experience managing a team is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
