Job description

This person will be responsible for the administration of the accounting function primarily with accounts payable. They will have accountability and custody of the company's accounting data and records and will assist largely with vouching verification accounting and maintenance of related records.
The incumbent must possess a proven track record for timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
The individual is someone who will bring knowledge and creativity to the position as well as have the discipline to drive results and follow established fundamental processes.
Understand the Middle East and the legal requirements of working in the region.

SPECIFIC DUTIES ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. Ensure the Smiths Code of Corporate Responsibility and Business Ethics is upheld in all activities.
  2. Maintaining books of accounts and ensuring that accounting transactions are recorded in line with International Accounting Standards (IAS).
  3. Responsible for accounting information as per International Accounting Standards (IAS). Due attention will be paid to Smiths Groups accounting policies and procedures while processing accounting transactions for the entity.
  4. Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
  5. Ownership of the Accounts Payable function.
  6. Preparation of month-end journals; including all accruals.
  7. Balance sheet reconciliations and postings.
  8. Intercompany transactions and intercompany recharges.
  9. Tracking of all employee deductions and will provision of necessary inputs to the Chief Accountant to recover dues at the time of payroll.
  10. Routine check of supplier invoices to verify accuracy and compare the same with approved purchase orders to be entered into the accounting system.
  11. Credit card and travel account review and reconciliation.
  12. Invoice review.
  13. Preparation of payment to suppliers ensuring accuracy and obtaining approval from FC.
  14. Non-product Purchase Order creation.
  15. Open PR and PO reviews.
  16. Vendor and employee account creation.
  17. Will be the custodian of the petty cash system and will maintain all necessary vouchers to support all reasonable expenses.
  18. Responsibility for the Fixed Assets function maintain Fixed Assets Register ensure CAPEX and Disposals in line with DOA.
  19. Support the Accountant & Senior Accountant in recording transactions on a day-to-day level paying attention to detail while recording these transactions.
  20. Provision of ad hoc financial information to senior management as and when requested.
  21. Support for the Finance Manager in providing monthly reports to support analysis for various balances.
  22. All of the above to be maintained on a SAP ERP environment.
  23. Location: Dubai UAE.
  24. Any other tasks assigned by the Finance Manager to this role from time to time and not covered above.
  25. Continuous improvement of the operational systems processes and policies in support of the organization's mission.

Qualifications:

Required Qualification
Education/Training: Accounting Degree or equivalent.
Computer literacy (advance Excel skills) competency in use of all programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialised software programs.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of related experience in a finance role.
Experience of working in a multinational and multicultural environment is an advantage.
Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of accounting software (SAP).
Knowledge of accounting standards.
Solid communications skills both verbal and written and a strong orientation for customer focus and teamwork.
Language skills in English is required. Language skills in Arabic would be an advantage.
Other Requirements:
Must be decisive driven and conscientious and interact well in a team environment.
Possess excellent organisational communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task and manage a wide range of activities.
Strong customer service skills including phone etiquette and the ability to handle stressful situations with resilience and tenacity.
Self-motivated reliable and accountable individual.
The ability to make good judgments by thinking quickly and broadly.
