Accountant (6 months temporary only)

Stantec Middle East is looking to hire a Temporary Accountant to be assigned in our Dubai, UAE operations.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

1. Accounts payables
   • Recording accounts payable invoices and payments
   • Perform supplier reconciliations.
   • Tracking accounts payables aging and forecasting payments for cashflow forecasts.
   • Perform bank & petty cash reconciliations and postings.
2. Accounts receivables
   • Preparing and recording intercompany invoices and performing intercompany reconciliations.
   • Preparing invoices for Clients based on project requirements and liaising with projects teams.
   • Recording cash receipts and preparing a summary for cash forecasting.
3. GL accounting
   • Performing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining schedules for prepayments, amortizations, leave & gratuity, and other accounts.
   • Preparing and posting month-end transactions.
   • Support the Chief accountant in the preparation of VAT and Tax returns.
   • Support the Chief accountant in the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
4. Project accounting
   • Create and set up projects in Deltek with the work breakdown structure and update monthly based on changes in forecasts.
   • Coordinate with the project manager for up-to-date project forecasts and EAC
   • Create new project codes for bid projects.

Success Criteria

• Must have a Degree inAccounting or Finance
• Must have a minimum of 5 years total experience in Finance or Accounting
• Prior experience in maintaining accounts for multinational businesses and experience in performing month-end transactions.
• Demonstrate ability to analyze numbers and perform complex reconciliations.
• Demonstrate ability to analyze data.
• Understanding the use of power query and power pivot or similar tools is desirable but not essential
• Experience working with Deltek or similar accounting systems is desirable but not essential.
• Experience working with a service-based/consulting business is desirable but not essential.
• Prior experience working for a Middle-East-based business is desirable.
