Role - Accountant

Who we are

House of Shipping provides business consultancy and advisory services for Shipping & Logistics companies. House of Shipping's commitment to their customers begins with developing an understanding of their business fundamentals.

Currently House of Shipping is recruiting for an Accountant on behalf of one of its clients in Dubai.

Job purpose

A result-driven individual to actively undertake all finance-related activities. Required to ensure accurate invoicing, payment collection, financial analysis for the port, agent, feeder, vessel contribution reports and accurate revenue cost generation reports.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare and record invoices for bunker fuel sales, manage collections, and ensure timely payments to suppliers.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and maintain cash flow records.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT and Corporate Tax regulations and file tax returns accurately and on time.
  • Support external auditors during the year-end audit process.
  • Assist in creating annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyse variances and report on financial performance to management.
  • Provide financial insights to optimize fuel procurement, inventory management, and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with banks, suppliers, and other financial institutions.
  • Assist management with ad-hoc financial analysis and decision-making support.
  • Establish and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure efficient processes.

Background and experience:

  • More than 5 years accounting experience preferably in the NVOCC shipping industry required.
  • Knowledge of inventory accounting, Vessel voyage related Agency Accounting, Project cost accounting, Payroll Processing and Management of Payables and Receivables.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, fund forecasting, cash flow management, Trading Accounts, Fixed Assets Schedules, Finalization of books and coordinate statutory auditing. Provide periodic Management & Financial reports and Reconciliation of business partners’ accounts
