AC Technician

• Analyse, troubleshoot, install, rebuild, adjust and replace commercial kitchen appliances, commercial refrigeration equipment and HVAC equipment. May include, but not limited to: Walk-ins, steamers, convection ovens, dishwashers, booster heaters, warmers, exhaust hoods, serving lines, ice machines, bearings, motors, heat exchanges, boilers, air conditioner compressors, exhaust systems and chillers.
• Perform major and/or minor repair, as well as preventative and corrective maintenance of commercial kitchen appliances, commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
• Track work orders and coordinate and prioritize repair tasks to respond in a timely manner, providing timely repairs and reduced downtime. Repair and maintain all low voltage, equipment voltage and control voltages.
• Inspect, repair, modify and install refrigeration equipment including compressors, chillers, receivers, condensers, pumps, and valves.
• Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units and heating and ventilating units, including boilers and air-conditioning equipment, making necessary adjustments or repairs.
• Repair or replace defective parts in units and equipment, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, and safety valves.
• Repair and maintain semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors and centrifugal compressors for refrigeration machines.
• Perform skilled electrical maintenance repair, installation and alteration of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems as needed.
• Lubricate and pack heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air-conditioning motors, pumps, fans and other equipment.
• Install and calibrate systems, install and repair copper tubing pipes, leak test joints, and insulate pipes of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Install, rebuild, replace or repair fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets and other equipment as necessary.
• Maintain related records concerning time, labor and materials, maintaining a log of tasks performed and writing reports as required.
• Ensure pool chemical levels are in accordance with legislative requirements and ensure pools are maintained with backwash and super chlorination.
• Ensure plant rooms are checked, cleaned and in operating order.

1. Technical Skills

• Installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning systems, HVAC systems, and refrigeration units.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and fix issues.
• Knowledge of different cooling and heating systems, including central air systems, split systems, and VRF systems.

2. Problem-Solving

• Diagnosing system malfunctions and determining the root cause of issues.
• Implementing effective solutions to restore proper system functionality.

3. Electrical and Mechanical Knowledge

• Understanding of electrical systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, and voltage requirements.

• Handling refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations.
• Knowledge of refrigerant types, pressures, and how to charge or evacuate refrigerant systems.
